Who we are
EB-architect was established by Ewen Buchan, A Chartered Architect in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. A practice that prides itself on a deep commitment to designing buildings that serve and enhance the lives of their users.
In 2020, amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic, Ewen took the plunge to establish his RIAS Chartered Architect practice with a clear vision: to deliver a bespoke, client- focused design service.
Setting up practice allowed us the flexibility to work free from the financial and managerial constraints often faced by larger practices. This approach has enabled EB-architect to provide clients with a highly personalised and superior level of service.
Since its inception, the practice has continued to grow, with staff joining the team to enhance the range and quality of services we provide. This expansion ensures we can meet our clients needs more effectively and handle a wider variety of projects while maintaining our core focus on delivering tailored solutions.
As a small business with big ideas, we pride ourselves on bringing creativity, innovation, and a no-nonsense approach to every project we undertake. Our goal is to make the process as streamlined as possible, ensuring clarity, efficiency, and exceptional results.

Our Team
Ewen Buchan
Director & Chartered Architect
MArch BSc (Hons) ARB RIBA RIAS
Ewen leads the team with a calm, practical mindset and a client-first approach. He focuses on thoughtful design that works within real-world budgets—no fluff, just smart, effective architecture that delivers. From the first client meetings to the final professional photos, Ewen values every step of the journey.
He studied at the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture at RGU in Aberdeen and spent a year in Tasmania, Australia, on an international exchange, undertaking survey work and gaining valuable global insight. Ewen qualified as a Chartered Architect in 2012 and is currently registered with the Architects Registration Board (ARB) in the UK. He also holds chartered membership with both the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS).
When he’s off the clock, you’ll find him unwinding in his man cave, out shooting, or simply enjoying some well-earned downtime.
Liane Wood
Chartered Architect
MArch BSc (Hons) ARB RIAS
Liane joined the EB-Architect team in 2024, and has brought a wealth of technical knowledge with her. Liane has mostly worked on domestic projects since completing her studies, and has developed a passion for creating spaces and places that add value to people’s lives – whether that be a proposal for an extension that is designed around a dining table passed down from generations to a small front porch that provides a little breathing space between the outside world and a home.
Prior to working in practice, Liane studied both her Part One and Part Two qualifications at the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment at Robert Gordon University, which led to her qualifying as a Charted Architect and joining the Architect’s Registration Board (ARB) in 2025. Liane also holds a chartered membership with the Royal Incorporation of Architect’s in Scotland (RIAS).
Outside of architecture, Liane volunteers as Head Coach at a local swimming club in Aberdeen. Swimming has been a passion of hers from a young age, and her current position at Bucksburn ASC allows her to inspire athletes to reach their potential, whilst developing skills for life. When Liane isn’t ‘architecking’ or coaching, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, going for walks or finding another part of her flat to renovate.
